Adjunct Professor (Islamic Finance)
Position Overview:
Sydney Islamic Business School is seeking to appoint an Adjunct Professor specialising in Islamic Finance. The ideal candidate will be an established academic or industry expert with over 10 years of experience in Islamic finance, a proven record in teaching, and a strong publication history. The position offers the opportunity to engage in high-quality teaching, research, and supervision while contributing to the continued development of the Islamic Finance program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teaching & Curriculum Development: Delivering engaging and academically rigorous courses in Islamic finance, including but not limited to Islamic financial markets, Sharia-compliant banking, Islamic investment principles, and ethical finance.
- Research & Scholarship: Leading and contributing to high-impact research, publishing in internationally recognized journals, and engaging with the broader academic community.
- Student Mentorship & Supervision: Providing guidance to postgraduate students, including supervising theses and research projects related to Islamic finance.
- Program Development: Contributing to the continued evolution and innovation of the Islamic finance curriculum, ensuring alignment with global industry trends and academic standards.
- Industry Engagement: Fostering strong ties between academia and industry, collaborating with organizations in the Islamic finance sector, and facilitating guest lectures, workshops, and networking opportunities for students.
- Academic Leadership: Participating in faculty meetings, program committees, and other academic governance activities.
Selection Criteria:
- Academic Qualifications: A Ph.D. or equivalent in Islamic Finance, Islamic Economics, or a closely related field is preferred.
- Professional Experience: A minimum of 10 years of experience in either academia or the financial industry, with expertise in Islamic finance products, markets, and regulations.
- Research Excellence: A proven track record of published research in peer-reviewed journals related to Islamic finance, financial ethics, or related fields.
- Teaching Excellence: Experience in delivering postgraduate-level education, curriculum development, and student supervision.
- Leadership & Communication: Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a diverse academic and cultural environment.
- Industry Networks: Established networks within the Islamic finance sector, with potential for further collaboration with industry professionals and organizations.
